Yay no more spam!

So as you know spam is everwhere. Of course I'm talking in the context of the interwebs. Now while we're all acustomed to seeing tons of it in our inboxes (well hopefully your spam folder), it also hits websites as well. On my blog and also on some pages I allow people to post comments. Since anyone can post (admin pending) it of course results in a shitton of comment bots who's sole purpose is to find sites and swamp them with spam comments. Well today marks a major change, one that you will hopefully never see.
I recently pulled up my comment queue to approve a few friends' had submitted, and I was greeted with 9 pages (each one having around 50 or so items) of "comments" to moderate. Of course save the ONE that was real, the rest were spam. At this point I made note that I really MUST get a comment spam filter. In the past I had just dissabled the entire comment system, but that makes for a boring site. As mentioned earlier it's a major change today, I have installed a comment spam filter. As I said you should never see the change, but it will make me much more willing to turn comments on. Actually the one change you should notice is that blogs now have write comments enabled. Just scroll back a few entries and you'll see that wasn't the case. That's the big site update.

Also RSS feeds have been asked for, and aparently I had already delivered that. Well I haddn't but my content system already did that. Now there IS something important to know here, and that is there is an RSS logo at the bottom of basically every content page. Be careful because if you pick up the one on the homepage, I *think* it will syndicate out EVERYTHING that gets added/updated on the site. This will include all the random small pages that I work on, and will make a mess in your reader. I now make an effort to make blog entries have a teaser (aka trimmed) for RSS ease and such. The other stuff, the whole damn thing will show up, yuck.
So solution? Click on Blog up top and then scroll ALL the way to the bottom and at the left side you'll see the little RSS logo. Add THAT to your reader. Just to make shit easy, THIS is the blog RSS feed.
Now ideally I want to have that logo right up in the main nav bar next to "Blog" but the current menu system won't let me do that and I'm too tired at this point to test out various solutions.

So there ya go. Also my cousin was in town this past week, so I've got stories about that. Also I went urban exploring a bit so I've got photos to upload and a post about that. I PROMISE I will get to at least one if not both of those tomorrow.
