So I today I was in Tahoe at Northstar. If you're around the bay area you were well famaliar with the storms we were receiving. Well Tahoe was getting their own share of it. Thus this resulted in around 36 inches of new snow this week. The most notable being last night so we had around 6" of fresh on top of what waas already there. I opted to take a ski bus for a day trip up there. Yeah, I'm not that crazy that I'll just drive up for a day myself.
I'm currently still on the bus heading home. I'm blogging via my Treo. I figured I'd get this out now while it's fresh on my mind 'cuz I'm just going to rest/sleep when I get home.
Anyway, today: absolutely epic. Couldn't have asked for better conditions. Lots of fresh powder, a great deal of the mountain open, and a clear day. Granted the temperatures were sub-freezing all day and the bit of wind didn't help that. However beecause of these temps the snow stayed dry and light. My efforts to buy and use cold snow wax on my board was worth it. Given the temperatures all temp wax would've been way too sticky. Also my powder riding was WAY better this season. Given the last time we had lots of pow I spent most of my time laying in it and digging myself out. (Which is VERY tiring.) I managed a deal more airtime than I usually do today. I was really happy that all of my attempts at kickers in the parks went off and landed fine. I also utulized natural terrain features a lot more than I usually would (also successfully.) Both I see as good omens of what this season is to hold.
Today really started off the winter season right for me. Given how I've been not doing much lately this, I feel, will give me the kick-start I've needed. So I'm amped for the upcoming snow season, are you?! Stay tuned for more about the snow, mmmm yay. OK now I need to sleep some more. Woke up at 3am to get going to catch the ski bus at 4am. (Slept ~3 hours on the bus.) More blogstuff tomorrow when I'm rested.
